The Virginia Tech Hokies have a new athletic director, Brian White, who was introduced in Blacksburg on Wednesday.
Brian White was asked about scheduling a series between Tennessee and Virginia Tech in football during his introductory press conference.
Tennessee Vols athletic director Danny White, Brian's brother, jokingly got out of his seat and pretended to run out of the room when the question was asked.
The two teams, separated by just 230 miles, last played each other in 2016 in the Battle at Bristol, with the Vols leading the series 6-3.
Brian White responded to the question by saying "I think Danny's available for Q&A after this session, let's put him on the spot," to a roomful of laughter.
The Virginia Tech Hokies are set to play their next game against the VMI Keydets on 2026-09-05.
Danny White offered a similar response when asked about the potential series, saying "I don't know, Brian's a hard negotiator."
The possibility of a home and home series between Tennessee and Virginia Tech, or even a Battle at Bristol part II, is still uncertain.
